Sciatica describes pain or nerve symptoms that travel from the lower back or buttock into the leg. The discomfort may be sharp, burning, electric, or aching and can occur with tingling, numbness, or weakness.

Walk in for same-day evaluation. No appointment is required. Reserve an arrival time online if you prefer, or call (209) 846-9429.
Sciatica often results from irritation or pressure affecting a nerve root in the lower spine. A clinical examination helps determine whether symptoms fit a typical nerve pattern and whether warning signs suggest a more urgent spinal condition.

When an X-ray, laboratory test, or other service is clinically appropriate and available onsite, our team will explain why it is recommended. If your symptoms require advanced imaging, emergency treatment, or specialty care, we will direct you to the appropriate level of care.

Sciatica specifically refers to pain or nerve symptoms traveling along a nerve pathway into the leg; back pain may occur without leg symptoms.
Many patients do not need immediate MRI. Advanced imaging is more urgent when serious warning signs, major weakness, or certain medical risks are present.
Prolonged bed rest is usually not preferred for uncomplicated symptoms. Your clinician can recommend safe activity based on your examination.
